Held as part of the programme marking 33 years since June 4th, this exhibition used art as a medium for actively connecting the region’s democratic forces — using the language of art to break silence and to resist politics imposed from above. It was paired with an escape-room experience built around China’s system of “residential surveillance at a designated location,” expressing the New School for Democracy’s stance of holding the Chinese authorities to account for the June 4th massacre and standing with victims of human rights abuses and prisoners of conscience.
