Each of us is born free, yet in some corners of the world, that light is still overshadowed. The courage to speak, the refusal to compromise, the yearning for equality — all of it will be made visible here, through art and words.

Building on the response to its first two editions, the 3rd Hong Kong Human Rights Art Exhibition takes as its theme “Protection, Hope, and Resistance,” bringing together 30 submissions that go deeper and hit harder than ever before.

If we stop out of fear, authoritarianism wins. The more they fear these works being seen, the more responsibility we have to show them. Holding this exhibition, without fail, is our concrete refusal to let fear govern how we live.

Having lived through repression ourselves, we understand all the more why looking out for one another matters. Art has power — we hold this exhibition to pass that hard-won warmth and strength on, so that everyone still facing darkness knows: as long as we keep speaking and keep watching over each other, hope will not go out.

Alongside the exhibition, we will also hold film screenings and a series of talks, inviting you to step into the exhibition and become part of safeguarding human rights through listening and understanding.
