Detention返校| Lund
TIDFF is Bringing a Taiwanese Horror Blockbuster to Lund!
Film is an art form that keeps stories alive and ensures they are not forgotten, all while being deeply tied to values of democracy, equality, social justice, empathy, and more.
We’re thrilled to kick off the year by screening the award-winning Taiwanese Psychological Horror Movie: “Detention” (返校)!
“Have you forgotten? Or are you scared of remembering?”
— Detention (2019)
Adapted from the popular horror video game of the same name, “Detention” is set in a high school during Taiwan’s White Terror period in 1962. A group of students and teachers secretly hold banned book-reading sessions in pursuit of freedom but face government persecution. As the main characters try to escape and search for their missing teacher, they gradually uncover the dark truths of their fate.
If you're interested in Taiwan's history and transitional justice, you'll find this film deeply engaging. If you simply love horror films, you'll enjoy it even more!
Disclaimer: “Detention” contains scenes that may be disturbing for some viewers. Viewer discretion is advised.
