Remembrance of an Island

83 min・2009

Through the spoken recollections of an elderly photographer, the film returns to Green Island and to the prison-camp life that time has broken apart, holding on to fifteen years on the island and to the will to live. How is a person to resist forgetting? As he looks at one old photograph after another, each still vivid, facing both the historical events and his own experience, complex and contradictory feelings keep rising. When an entire era chooses to forget, he walks alone through a history and a memory that are hard to bear.
