An Unfinished Film

107 min・2024

In early 2020 a film crew reassembles near Wuhan to continue shooting a film left unfinished ten years earlier. As cities enter lockdown one after another, the whole crew must face challenges no one anticipated, and the director Xiaorui has to decide whether to halt the production a second time. Some crew and cast are fortunate enough to leave before the hotel is sealed; everyone still inside is confined to their own room. All contact with the outside runs through their phones, and the lead actor Jiang Cheng, in isolation, keeps company online with his wife and one-month-old baby locked down in Beijing as they get through the hardest stretch together.
